Another great project released by Jazzmanrecords, previously-unreleased ethnic jazz from the legendary Egyptian drummer! Before the re-release of his album with the Cairo Jazz Band, the name Salah Ragab was best known to jazz fans and record collectors by way of another LP that was recorded with Sun Ra in the early ‘70s. His album ‘Prism Music Unit’ with the Cairo Jazz Band was released in Egypt with another by the Cairo Free Jazz Ensemble, but perhaps only Salah himself knew of the other songs he had recorded at the time, but didn’t make it onto these LPs. High quality european gatefold reissue of this essential monster brazilian album by young arranger/composer Arthur Verocai.Fantastic mix of jazz soul funk pop for one of the best MPB album with incredible arrangement. Impossible to find unless it costs you an arm ! So prefer this reissue. Great job by Kindred Spirits boys (with a much better sound than the Ubiquity reissue). One of my favorite album of all time. Essential.

Essential Francis Bebey compilation released on the excellent Born Bad Records which after deep research managed to include all the best cuts by this Camerounese artist settled in France. Bebey was the first african musican to use electronic in his productions. Fantastic crunchy synthetic sound, early rythms drums machine, funny lyrics and superb DIY touch by this pioneer african artist. Don't miss out the monster low-fi electro funk "Catching Up" available anywhere else !
