Arthur Doyle Plus 4 – Alabama Feeling (AK-BA Records – AK 1030 – US – 1978)
1.300,00 €
Arthur Doyle was an intriguing musician, likely from Alabama, who lived in New York in the 1970s. He was a key figure in the avant-garde music scene, creating mystical, free-jazz-inspired music that was often described as a ghostly chase through mirrors. He hooked up with noise guitarist Rudolph Grey and drummer Beaver Harris to perform in loft spaces, playing in front of an art crowd that seemingly didn’t grasp the power of their music. Doyle released this lo-fi masterpiece that became an explosive cry of freedom and fury. He also put out several records under the AKBA label, including releases by saxophonist Charles Tyler, another pioneer of the loft-jazz scene. Thurston Moore's top 10 favorite free jazz album !
The copy here for sale is still sealed and comes from the private collection of american saxophonist Sulaiman Hakim.
