An incredibly obscure solo album from the Democratic Republic of the Congo by multi-instrumentalist Bikoula Biks, known for his work with l’Orchestre National du Congo and the Congolese jazz outfit Jungle Trio. The standout “Jouez Pour Moi” is a deeply compelling jazz-funk piece driven by a Gospel choir, giving the track a truly spiritual and uplifting atmosphere.
Another essential cut is “Blues Ya Buwayi,” a superb jazz-funk blues number featuring female backing vocals and a beautifully tight rhythm section. A seriously overlooked record and extremely hard to find nowadays.
