Released privately and almost unknown outside of Scandinavia, this exceptional album brings together the talents of Norwegian musicians Guttorm Guttormsen and Per Kristian Ekholt, who lead a powerful 19-piece band through a series of groovy, richly arranged tracks.
Highlights include "Sweeten", opening with a super-sampleable drum break, and "Thyrus", a deep and soulful composition by Guttormsen. The killer track "Samba-Tireless" evokes the vibe of French funky big band classics by Daniel Janin, Dinah's Mantas Power, or Ivan "Big" Jullien. Another standout, "Theme for Kristian", features tight brass arrangements and a fantastic electric piano solo.
