First encounter with this ultra-rare Afro-rock 7" by Kenyan artist Ismael Jingo. Reportedly pressed as a promo for WEA in 1977 in just 200 copies, this is one of those records that circulate more in digger lore than in real life. A heavy, infectious floor-filler, almost impossible to track down today—especially in this flawless, unplayed condition.
Born Ishmael Said Ishmael in Mombasa (1949), Jingo carried the coastal chakacha rhythm with him when he moved to Dar es Salaam, working days as a glass factory clerk and spending nights at the Sinbad Club, absorbing soul, funk and R&B from the port city. Out of those late-night sessions came Fever—a raw, personal hybrid where East African coastal grooves collide head-on with American soul.
Pressed in microscopic quantities and now firmly embedded in Afro-rock mythology.
Close to perfect, unplayed copy. Both record and sleeve are in pristine condition, Near Mint. Please check the actual audio clip of the record for sale on our Instagram post.
