Released in 1972, Acabou Chorare is a remarkable meeting point of samba, MPB, tropicalia and psychedelia. Originally from Salvador, Bahia, Novos Baianos bring a distinctly Bahian sensibility to their music, drawing on the region’s rich musical traditions while embracing the freedom of rock and counterculture. Intricate acoustic guitars, loose percussion and beautiful vocal harmonies come together in a sound that feels both deeply rooted and completely original.
“Mistério Do Planeta” stands out for its hypnotic groove and intricate guitar work, while “Tinindo Trincando” delivers a funkier side of the band, driven by infectious rhythms and a propulsive beat. Add the melodic charm of “Preta Pretinha” and the irresistible swing of “Swing de Campo Grande”, and you have an album that moves effortlessly between styles without ever losing its identity. A landmark Brazilian record that remains as fresh and distinctive today as it was in 1972.
