Ted Moses Quintet – Sidereal Time (Radio Canada International – 400 - 1974)
180,00 €
Great Canadian Jazz-Funk Fusion album by pianist pianist/composer from Toronto Ted Moses.
Moses recorded three albums throughout the 70’s with his own band, often hinging on various Jazz moods; Fusion, swing, free, experimental, etc. His output never received the proper praise in it’s day and just recently has his debut offering’s (1974’s “Sidereal Time”) accumulative cult appeal over the decades paid off in terms of a reissue and wider audience thanks to Montreal’s “Return To Analog” record label.
Unfortunately, his other albums have yet to receive a similar treatment and wallow in record bins across the country waiting to be discovered by Jazz fans.
With a highly skilled quintet in tow, 1974’s Sidereal Time is a fantastic album, that is reminiscent of Moe Koffman’s “Solar Explorations” in application and in spirit.
Tracks like "Hidden Strength", "Spectrum" are fjazz-funk fusion masterpieces, "Dreamship" is a fierce jazz dance tune while the title track "Sidereal Time" reminds a bit the fusion of Bitches Brew with an amazing Electric piano solo.
It's the first time I come across this yellow sleeve version that i believe is the rarest version of thid pretty much overlloked record that deserve a larger audience.
Record is VG+ (a few hairlines and surface, plays great almost with only light background noises between tracks or quiet moment, actual audio clip on instagram) / Sleeve is strong VG++ (Very light edge discoloration)
