Various – African Disco Volume 1 (Artistes Africains Associés – AAA 1001 - France - 1974)

650,00

This ultra-rare Afro Funk / Afro Disco compilation by African artists includes some seriously heavy Afro-funk gems such as "Maché" and "Doubout" by Guadeloupean singer and producer Alan Shelly, as well as "Biwela" and "Zongela Ngai" by Congolese guitarist and composer Jerry Malekani, a member of Ryco Jazz. Both tracks are almost certainly backed by Manu Dibango, as they share a striking resemblance to his signature Soul Makossa sound.

The compilation also features "Manbalata", a rare Afro-psych funk cut by Freddy Mars (aka Freddy N'Kounkou) from Ryco Jazz. "Mangeur D'Hommes" is another outstanding highlight—a deep African jazz-funk theme by Dikoto Mendengue, with a strong blaxploitation vibe reminiscent of Barry White's 1970s productions.
An extremely rare African Soul / Funk classic, released only in France in 1974 and seldom seen for sale. Several tracks from this compilation were also issued as 7-inch singles—just check the prices achieved by the most recently sold copies!

Condition: Record is EX, very close to NM, and plays beautifully. Sleeve is also in excellent condition, with only the slightest signs of wear.
